SYLLABUS

  • Overview of curriculum, classmate intro, explore the IA ecosystem, syllabus and our cohort project.

  • We’ll explore concepts like abstraction, synchronicity, and sense-making to elevate our understanding of the importance of broadening our horizon for learning. It’s often the things we see as non-related that have the most in common.

How do sports, anime, and art intersect? Education and comedy? Fashion and science? Let’s connect the dots.

  • Our leadership framework consists of the 4 P’s: Purpose, Potential, Process, and Perspective . As we improve and excel at any craft, passion, occupation, or hobby our responsibility to lead will increase.

Regardless of position having these skills are necessary for improved performance.

  • Examine play as an often overlooked but key ingredient to unlocking our abilities. Through research and discovery we’ll see how you practice play with intention by addressing themes of perfectionism, external expectations, and redefining what the cycle of success means for each of us individually.

  • In sports the phrase “Know Your Game” speaks to having a clear understanding of your role within the broader team and how you are most impactful. Life is a team sport, who you surround yourself is just as important to your success. It takes practice to become an x-factor in any setting.

Practice strategic planning methods and other visualization techniques to create ideal roles and pieces.

  • Failure is the precursor to learning, and most often the last phase of making our biggest leaps. Our mindset, perspective, and emphasis on this topic will be our secret weapon to hacking the learning curve.

As the great Sun Ra said, “sometimes when you lose, you win.”

  • Greats learn through studying, analyzing, and observing. Nothing is really original but an adaption or iteration on the past. Innovation starts with understanding, creativity with curiously and discovery through exploration. The answer to problems we want to solve start with a question. To improve we must dissect where we can learn, grow, maintain, and maintain.

  • We’ll use this closing session to reflect on our journey by presenting the final project. We’ll invite a selected group of peers to celebrate with and share our overall progress. Time to show the world your magic!

With the clarity of a seasoned veteran and the wonder for discovery of the secrets of the world, Greg Plater reveals bold new perspectives for life enhancement delivered in digestible portions and steps. Through physical and mental exercises, his high level experience in the high-octane, highly strategic world of international basketball shows up in how he organizes his lesson plans and helps others execute their visions with precision and room for team work."

    Jason E.C. Wright (Research/Education, Design)

  • "During our careers we meet many people along the way, sometimes they are our bosses or peers, sometimes they are competitors, occasionally you meet someone randomly that inspires you. Greg is one of those people for me. Greg is creative, thoughtful and very focused on helping others while also seeing his future value add clearly. Greg is an artist and a thinker and as a former top tier athlete he knows how to focus like a laser. What strikes me most is Greg's ability to clearly see opportunities that abound around all of us. Greg is at the beginning of what I predict will be a very long and successful career at the nexus of creativity and value creation. If you have a chance to work with Greg be sure and tap into his creativity and his intelligence then just let him fly, you will be glad you did."

Dion Lisle (Ventures | Innovation | FinTech | Startup Advisor)

  • "I'd give coach Greg 6 stars if I could. As a senior in HS and going on to play D1 next year, my daughter has worked out with a wide variety of coaches over the years. But Greg is really special. He understands the game on an intricate and organic level and goes the extra mile to push when pushing is called for. He should be a professional coach somewhere because his understanding of the players he coaches is truly unique."

    Parent of UPenn WBB Alum

  • "Greg's leadership skills are grounded in worldly empathy, emotional intelligence, and critical thinking. Working collaboratively with him on several projects over the years, I have always felt understood, seen, and challenged to produce my best work. He has a unique ability to elevate ideas, pursue clarity, and guide intention to achieve meaningful outcomes. If ideas are water, Greg is a well; accessing deep flows of natural creativity. Working with him has always felt creatively invigorating. He's a true leader who amplifies and empowers those around him, and he brings a fearless creativity to all projects we work on together."

He has a rare talent for helping you reflect on your lived experiences, identifying meaningful connections, and distilling them into a structured, insightful framework that helps you explore your own creative identity. He approaches mentorship with depth and intentionality, ensuring that each person not only develops their craft but also understands how their multifaceted experiences shape their work and passions. His guidance is both grounding and expansive—encouraging authenticity while providing the structure needed to bring creative visions to life."

  • "Greg has always been a great soundboard and guide for me. As a current professional athlete overseas, I know he's experienced many of the same things that I've been through and am currently navigating. We've been fortunate to roam the streets, museums, and basketball courts around the world from Paris and Berlin to Los Angeles, New York, and Portland. Greg, the artist, athlete, and intellectual, is a special person to be around. His creativity, mindfulness, and ability to help bring visions to life is unique and inspiring."
